The Image on the left is of a Satellite that was used in the 1980s to watch television. The image next to it also a satellite used to watch TV, but this image was from 2010. As you can see the newer satellite has a much smaller design.
While in my Core class this week I began to learn some about the difference between analog and digital. While confusing at first an example that we learned about how satellites greatly reduced size around 2009 when they switched from analog to digital. That got me wondering more about how satellites work and how they are able to bring an image to a TV. Doing a Google search gave me some info that was able to help explain what was going on at a basic level. I was able to find out that the satellite on your home points to the sky towards a satellite in space that is sending a message. That message then enters a cable box inside your home after it is sent through the satellites. The cable box then takes that message and translates it to the photo that appears on your television. This may seem basic, but the idea was all new to me and very neat to learn about. I’m excited to continue to learn more about the differences between the digital and analog messages that are being sent.
